Founded in 2012, AFYREN is a green chemistry company that offers the industry biobased, low-carbon products thanks to its unique fermentation technology based on a completely circular model to replace the petro-sourced ingredients usually used in the formulations of many products.

At a time when many of our everyday products are still too heavily dependent on petroleum based molecules AFYREN is offering to a wide panel of industries biobased replacements, thanks to an environmentally friendly technology that uses natural microorganisms.
Founded in 2012, AFYREN collected more than €70 million funding in 2019, which allows the company to grow from a pilot stage to industrial-scale production.
In 2021, the Company completed its IPO on the Euronext Growth® in Paris, raising nearly €70 million in additional capital, with the objective of accelerating its industrial development.

AFYREN NEOXY
AFYREN NEOXY is the first manufacturing plant to implement AFYREN’s technology and expertise. Located at the CHEMESIS platform in Carling Saint-Avold, it produces a family of 7 organic acids.
AFYREN NEOXY is the result of a joint-venture between AFYREN and Bpifrance’s SPI Fund.

AFYREN was born in Auvergne, in Jérémy Pessiot’s research labs at the University of Clermont-Ferrand. The first pilot plants were developed at the Biopôle Clermont-Limagne, one of Europe’s primary hubs for research, education, and development in the field of bio-industry.
